TGCh | ICT
Pupils are taught ICT in discrete lessons and are given opportunities to further develop these skills across the curriculum. The school uses a range of ICT equipment across subject areas such as kindles, iPads, Programming software, Mac computers and animation equipment.
Pupils are given the opportunity to use ICT equipment to;
- communicate with others (individuals and the wider community)
- solve problems
- process information
- store and retrieve information
- consolidate concepts learned in other areas
- develop e-safety strategies
ICT enhances learning by providing access to new experiences and promotes wellbeing through the development of e-safety self-management skills and familiarity with equipment.
All year groups gain experience of a variety of skills and associated media and schemes of work are developed to build on previous year’s achievements. These skills are revisited within each year group giving individuals the opportunity to consolidate their learning and attempt new challenges. At KS4, the department offers a range of examination courses. Agored Cymru modules are selected for pupils in Year 10 and 11, depending on the interests and skills of the group. BTEC Level 1 ICT is also offered by the school. The range of courses aims to support the success of all abilities of pupils. Wherever possible visits into the community are undertaken to broaden pupils’ awareness of ICT, which is all around us.
